Getting closer!

Drove by the house today and we now have front porch railings and our door is painted! Woohoo!

Meanwhile on the mortgage side of the house we still haven't received our final approval and we're only 5 business days away from closing. Our final approval was submitted end of July and had a two week underwriting turnaround and then... their systems went down for a week. And now underwriting is trying to determine how my (Tommy) GI Bill benefits play into the loan that's holding them up. Also I had deposited a small 2k cash deposit before we officially started the process with Ryan Homes (and sent in earnest money deposit) back in the beginning of March. Well that cash was the result of me selling my car and I just held onto the cash for a while before depositing it. Now this deposit is an object of scrutiny and we're waiting on final word on that as well. Hopefully we will get final approval early next week, this anticipation and down to the wire process is stressing us out. Big time.

  1. It keeps getting better and better! I love your ROME!

I do not understand why they wait until the last minute for the final approval. It is so agonizing!! However, I feel confident for all of us in this process that thinks will work out as planned! It's just that space between the period and the next sentence.

    1. Thank you! Our loan officer seems confident it wont be that big of a deal, but it still makes me worry since this our first house.

  2. Beautiful! I'm excited for you, and growing more excited by the day to move my own family. We close in less than a month, and I'm filled with both joy and terror. Joy bedause our new home will really fit our family's needs, and terror because I hat moving. :-(

On another note, are you going to carry the Mrs. across the threshold?

    1. The packing part is no fun. I agree. Each time is seems like our stuff multiplies. Hubby wont tell me if he is going to carry me or not! haha It'll be a surprise to see what his has up his sleeve. :)

  3. The railings really make the porch stand out! Hopefully the underwriters will come through for you and WE BOTH are able to close on the 27th! I wonder why they wait until the last minute to ask for additional info?

  4. It looks so good! I was nervous about black railings with white trim (I might have been a little testy during that discussion with my SR, lol) but it really does look good. I was picturing a thicker rail, I think.

Crossing fingers, toes, and eyes that you close on time!

  5. So jealous of your front porch. That wasn't an option in our neighborhood otherwise it would have been on my list. Guess we will add one later.

    1. It almost wasn't an option for us either. At least when you add it on later you get to customize it :)
